All of our PandoMonthly guests are pretty renowned. But Chris Dixon is a guy who really needs no introduction to the New York ecosystem. He’s a founder who has had success at enterprise and consumer, an angel, a New York cheerleader, a mentor, and now a partner at Andreessen Horowitz. Dixon has been heavily associated with almost all the good things about the New York ecosystem in recent years. I once described Fred Wilson as the don of the New York scene, and he said if he was the don, Dixon was his clear number two. (A capo in mob parlance?)
One problem with that…Dixon is no longer actually in New York. He shocked everyone last November when he took a job as a general partner of one of the hottest venture firms, Andreessen Horowitz. It seemed like great news for New York startups… until they realized that one of their biggest advocates would have to move to Silicon Valley a place with no shortage of great investors.
“I knew it was you…. *smooch*… you broke my heart…”
Well, Dixon is back with his NYC peeps next Thursday to talk about his roots, his career, that gut wrenching decision, and how things have gone since. I know a lot of you have seen Dixon speak before. But those who regularly watch our interviews also know we tend to bring out a side to our guests you’ve never seen before.
Huge thanks to our sponsors Gravity for picking up the tab for your beer and helping us keep our ticket prices at a crazy-low $20.
On a personal note, this will be my first New York event since I was crazy pregnant and interviewing Josh Kopelman in February. I’m thrilled to be back and can’t wait to see you all!
