Certainly the Valley is built on household names. Apple. Netscape. Google. Facebook. Massive brands everyone knows that even become verbs after a point.
But there are also plenty of great companies built here that certain communities rabidly know, love, and live in everyday that the rest of the broader world may no nothing of. GitHub is one of these.
Last year when we broke news of GitHub’s monster series A funding round the story caught fire and the comments were almost universally developers high-fiving the bootstrapped company and saying the monster valuation was well deserved.
But what of the people behind GitHub? At this month’s PandoMonthly we are bringing you an in depth interview with Tom Preston-Werner GitHub’s founder and CEO. I first met him at a Valley BBQ where he expressed his annoyance that we broke his funding round. It seems he’s forgiven us.
