Okay, so tomorrow at 3pm EST we’ll be broadcasting the first episode of PandoWeekly, a 30-minute interview show on BlogTalkRadio. I’ll be the host and my first order of the day will be teaching everyone how to pronounce my name. Then I’ll be talking to Kik founder and CEO Ted Livingston about mobile messaging, perhaps the most important battlefield on the consumer Web. Livingston, who’s about 25, once donated $1 million of his own money to kickstart the University of Waterloo’s seed fund. So we assume he’s a pretty decent chap.
We’ll be taking a Lean Startup-y approach to this radio show, which is a fancy way of saying we’re not really sure what we’re doing. But we’re sure it’ll be fun! Ish.
The basic idea is that I’ll be talking every week to a founder, investor, or other interesting person who is relevant to tech and startups, about whatever issues seem important at the time. The tone of the show will fall somewhere between Diggnation and Fresh Air, but with fewer appearances by Jay-Z and presented in a New Zealand accent (just like the Australian accent, but more intelligent).
Some of these episodes will be broadly thematic, others will be hyper-relevant to the big news of the day. We’ll be bringing on guests who have strong opinions and are fun to listen to. We’ll even have music bits, provided by PandoDaily’s very handsome David Holmes, who, our sources tell us, was apparently the first iteration of Ashton Kutcher (see this list). And our own Hallie Bateman did the art.
If you want to listen to the show live, that’s great – all you have to do is tune into our channel over at BlogTalkRadio. It’s on every Friday at 3pm EST. But we’ll also be posting a podcast of the show here on the site every Friday at 4pm, so you can take it with you for the weekend, or listen to it at your leisure as you while away the final hours of your work week. (By the same token, it’s sure to go well with whiskey.)
We look forward to seeing you in radioland. We’re sure you’re much better-looking there.
