Mark Suster is a polarizing figure. A two time entrepreneur and newly converted VC, Mark has a unique perspective on the startup ecosystem and has been one of the most vocal voices of the resurgent LA startup ecosystem over the last half-decade.
As is the managing partner at Upfront Ventures (formerly GRP Partners), LA’s largest and arguably most active venture firm, Mark has made some big bets including on the Southern California market, including backing rocket ship YouTube MCN Maker Studios, in-image advertising pioneer GumGum, local services booking platform MyTime, and call performance marketing platform RingRevenue. He hasn’t had that career-defining exit yet, but it’s early in the game and he has a number of seemingly hot promising irons in the fire.
Mark is never afraid to speak his mind and does so regularly on his Both Sides of the Table blog. Next week, he’ll join us on stage at PandoMonthly in Los Angeles to spar with Sarah Lacy about the state of the LA ecosystem, the future of startup investing, and the role of media and branding in venture capital. Get your tickets here now!
Love him or hate him, you have to respect Mark for his no-bullshit style. I can’t wait to see what he has to say next week.
