“Cord-cutting” startup Aereo launched today in New York to give users DVR-like access to live television over connected devices. Aereo subscribers will pay a technological licensing fee to access a dime-sized antenna which streams local broadcast stations via Aereo.com. No cable stations are available. The company’s launch announcement includes backing from TV mogul Barry Diller; previous funding for the company, once called Bamboo Labs, has come from High Line Venture Partners, SV Angel / Ron Conway, First Round Capital, and Highland Capital. [More: NY Times]
