Chinese ecommerce giant Alibaba’s payment service, Alipay, has launched a “mobile wallet” app for Android. Called Alipay Wallet, the app can now store and manage a range of payment methods, including credit cards, gift cards, and coupons. One of the transfer methods – which include QR codes and online transactions –  is based on sound waves, in which white noise is used to communicate between devices. Alipay competes with similar services from Sina and Tencent, which are tied to Sina Weibo and WeChat respectively. [Source: Alibaba]
