After causing a big hullabaloo all over the Web today over a clumsily reported New York Post article, Brittany Darwell, speaking for AppData’s parent company, fleshed out the reasoning behind the decline in users: Christmas. “The drop between Dec. 24 and 25 seems likely to be related to the holiday, during which time people are traveling and otherwise have different routines than usual,” she said. The Post article said someone at AppData said they were “pretty sure” the decline was related to the recent Terms of Service outcry. AppData said the quote wasn’t authorized and doesn’t stand by it.
