Google Play revenues are catching up iOS revenues, even though the gap between the two remains large, according to a new report from app analytics company App Annie. Apple’s iOS revenues are four times larger than Google Play’s, but the latter grew nearly 18 percent last month while iOS revenue contracted 0.7 percent in the same period. Meanwhile, Japan overtook the US for top spot in Google Play revenues, seven of the top 10 app publishers on Google Play are Japanese or Korean, and nine of the top 10 publishers by revenue on both iOS and Google Play are game publishers. Google’s multi-device and open approach with Android appears to be paying off on the international stage. [Source: App Annie]
