AT&T and Verizon have reached a deal for the former to acquire 700 MHz spectrum from the latter for the buildout of its US 4G LTE network. The spectrum, which was previously used for analog TV broadcast and Verizon has since been using for supplemental Urban coverage, will allow At&T to deliver next-gen service to 42 million people across 18 states. Verizon will receive $1.9 billion in cash and licenses to portions of AT&T’s Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum. [Source: TechCrunch]
