China search giant Baidu has taken a big step towards global expansion by forging a deal with France Telecom/Orange to pre-instal and co-brand its mobile browser on Android smartphones sold in Africa and the Middle East, covering a spread of 19 countries. The deal is exclusive for one year. Like a handful of other Chinese Internet companies, including Tencent and UCWeb, Baidu has been trying to break out of China with limited success, with a special focus on emerging markets. This partnership represents a significant step forward for the company’s expansion plans. [Source: Orange]
