BitTorrent, maker of popular peer-to-peer file sharing clients uTorrent and the eponymous BitTorrent, has announced Sync, a new tool meant to compete with Dropbox. Sync saves data between computers — there’s no mention of mobile devices, yet — just like its competitor, but transports these files with BitTorrent’s 170 million user strong P2P network instead of a centralized location.
