Fred Wilson has posted a thought-provoking post about the ability of the mass of people on the Internet, and whether or not crowdfunding could help to supplement the loss of investment in areas like biotech and healthcare. Wilson points out that VC’s have been investing more and more into the latest trends like the consumer Internet, and less in the areas that can change people’s lives, like healthcare. His hope is that people will fund these projects through services like Kickstarter, skipping the need for large amounts of capital.
