Digg claims that it has doubled its users, publishers are noticing the “Digg effect,” and that it’s thinking about monetization in 2013, even though the product is only “1 percent” done. Key to its early monetization plans will be a sponsored slot called “Apps we like,” through which developers can apparently pay to force Digg to like their stuff. We bet you’re going to hear the word “sponsored” a lot more with regards to media this year. Get used to it. [Source: Digg]
