In a blog post for Mag+, whose software powers many popular digital magazines like Popular Science and Macworld, “Mike” argues that the increased file sizes that will result from the new iPad’s Retina Display don’t matter, because it’s about the value that users get from those images. Frankly, I disagree; the increased file sizes are going to make downloads take even longer, and for what? More images that I can’t interact with in any meaningful way? It may not be about the file size, but it’s definitely about the technology.
