A proposed settlement by regulators in the US and EU will put the matter of price-fixing behind the ebook publishing industry, if agreed upon. Regulators are looking to stop what they see as anticompetitive behavior in the marketplace. Currently, while many publishers agree to the terms of the settlement, Apple and two major publishers have blanched at the proposal and are refusing to settle the matter on the proposed terms. Of course, while this could change as the threat of a lawsuit grows, there’s no telling what the final settlement will be.
