Facebook is set to release a number of new advertising tools in the coming week, including those allowing marketeres to target ads based on users’ phone numbers and email addresses. The tool will allow advertisers to identify users that they’ve interacted with elsewhere — in the online or offline world. The contact data will be uploaded to Facebook, but will be hashed first for privacy. In recent private testing of the feature one financial services company was reportedly able to double its fan base in two weeks, by existing customers to Facebook fans. [Source TechCrunch]
