Foxconn is known for making electronics on a truly spectacular scale, using hundreds of thousands of Chinese workers on each product line. The CEO of Foxconn, rather than being grateful that he isn’t one of them, instead decided to go with the comment that managers could learn how to run Foxconn better by studying a zoo, as the workers were in the animal kingdom as well. Tactless? Yes. Foxconn is backing away from the comment, but not enough to say, “We don’t think our workers are animals”.
