After Google got in hot water for scanning books and making available to consumers for free, Authors Guild sued the search engine giant citing copyright infringement. Well, Google is now asking the court to look at each case on a per book basis, stating many authors actually want their book scanned and it isn’t fair to lump all authors in one lawsuit. Google submitted a brief to the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals arguing for a change. The case has been ongoing since 2005. It was originally settled in 2008 but the settlement got thrown out.
