We already know that governors opting out of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion are forfeiting billions of dollars for their states. Now there’s evidence that these decisions, which come primarily from GOP governors, will also likely result in thousands of deaths. That’s the harrowing conclusion from a new study of the 25 opt-out states from Harvard Medical School and the City University of New York. Using mortality rate statistics from other states’ previous efforts to expand the low-income health insurance program, the study finds “the number of deaths attributable to the lack of Medicaid expansion in opt-out states at between 7,115 and 17,1042.” – Sirota
