After a judge ruled that Facebook must pay out a $20 million dollar settlement for using user’s profile information in sponsored stories, GigaOM released data about how likely you will receive a piece of the pie. Because the lawyers are asking for about $8 million and people like the escrow agent and settlement administrator also get paid, the total payout to users will be more like $10 million to $12 million. GigaOM states that if even 2 percent of Facebook users make a claim, it will be unlikely you will see any sort of payout. Instead the money could go towards lobbying groups. The lawsuit is based on ads prior to Facebook changing its privacy terms, which now allows the social network to still keep running sponsored posts with your information. [Source: GigaOM]
