Linux creator Linus Torvalds and stem-cell research “pioneer” Shinya Yamanaka have been declared the joint winners of this year’s Millennium Technology Prize, which is given out once every two years. Torvalds and Yamanaka are the first to win a joint prize since its inception in 2002. The prize money – $1.5 million – will be split evenly between the two.
