Russian Internet giant Mail.ru is set to end its contract with Google, which powers the portal’s search results, according to Russian newspaper Izvestia. Mail.ru has been switching back and forward between Google and Yandex for its homepage search engine in recent years, with its current Google partnership in place since 2010, even though the company has its own search engine. Mail.ru’s engine until this point has been handling mostly queries in Russian, with Google taking up the rest. If the contract does end, it may be an indication that the Russian company is ready to take on all queries by itself. [Source: The Next Web]
