Microsoft has reportedly acquired 18-month-old home entertainment and automation startup R2 Studios. R2 was founded by former Sling co-founder and CEO Blake Krikorian. In what smells like an acqui-hire, Krikorian and a small team will be joining Microsoft’s Xbox division. Microsoft, which also received some attractive patents around controlling electronic devices as part of the deal, reportedly outbid Google and Apple for the deal, although the terms were not revealed.
