The New York Times has released four new ad spots (which can be viewed here, here, here, and here) in an effort to gain more digital subscribers. The Times previously cut the number of free articles that a person could read to strong-arm more people into buying subscriptions, but this approach is less about bullying and more about the experience of the New York Times. The ads are fairly Apple-like; simple, to the point, and rather well done.
