Google’s Nexus 7 tablet is selling at a rate of nearly 1 million units a month and appears to be picking up speed, according to Asus, the maker of the tablet. In the Taiwanese company’s third-quarter earnings call, executives said sales for the tablet started off at about 500,000 a month but have recently come close to the 1 million mark. In comparison, Apple sold 14 million iPads in its third quarter. The Nexus 7, however, competes directly against the just-announced iPad Mini, which retails for about $130 more per device.
