While I’ve always been rather against the idea of smartphone manufacturers trying to lock down big-name apps as exclusives, I’ve got to give Nokia credit for keeping up the fight. The company has just announced that they’ve signed deals with Groupon, Tripdots, ESPN, PGA Tour, and AOL’s Entertainment Hub to bring their apps to Nokia’s Windows Phonepowered Lumia devices, with exclusivity on each app for anywhere from 3 months to a year. Nokia also notes that apps from Paypal, Box, The Daily Beast, and Time Magazine are heading to Windows Phone soon, though no exclusivity is mentioned. [Source: Nokia]
