Bottica, by way of GigaOM, reports that users visiting the site from Pinterest spend over twice as much money as those that are referred from Facebook. The average sale per referral is $180 and $85 for Pinterest and Facebook, respectively. Pinterest users also spend less time on the site, which may have an effect on impulse purchases. My thinking is this: If someone dashes into your store, buys an expensive item, and runs back out, isn’t that better than someone lollygagging around and spending half as much?
