RapidShare has been declared a legal service in Germany, according to TorrentFreak. The company has been facing legal pressure recently, and its future was on the line with its most recent legal case. While the ruling at the Higher Regional Court is a plus for the company, RapidShare is being forced to monitor external sites and block access to infringing content — something that RapidShare says it has no problem doing. What is immediately apparent is that courts are treating competitors differently even though they all have the same basic business model. Something smells fishy here.
