According to testimony in court earlier this week, a lawyer for Apple has claimed that the company wants to go to trial over the ebook antitrust case. The lawyer claimed that, “Our basic view is that we would like the case to be decided on the merits”, which is consistent with the viewpoints of Macmillan and Penguin Group, two other defendants in the Department of Justice lawsuit. Not entirely unexpected, especially in light of the fact that Apple refused to participate in settlement talks leading up to the trial.
