Kaspersky Lab, the Russian cyber security firm that uncovered Stuxnex, today revealed another massive cyberattack, dubbed “Red October.” The five-year-long attack by unknown perpetrators has reportedly breached “computer networks at diplomatic, governmental and scientific research organizations” as well as others in “military, research institutions, aerospace, oil and gas,” in dozens of countries worldwide. The primary targets have been in the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, but North America and Western Europe have seen limited activity as well. [Source: BBC]
