Samsung’s Galaxy SIII has overtaken the iPhone 4S to become the world’s best-selling smartphone for the first time ever, according to Strategy Analytics. The S3 shipped 18 million units worldwide during the third quarter of 2012 and captured an 11 percent share of all smartphones shipped globally. The iPhone 4S came in second with an estimated 16.2 million. However, that slightly deflated number was probably influenced by consumers holding off for the arrival of the iPhone 5. Expect the see-saw to continue. [Source: Strategy Analytics]
