In the wake of accusations of exploiting young factory workers, Samsung’s audit of more than 100 suppliers has failed to discover “any instance of child labor.” It did, however, confirm reports of poor working conditions, flagged by a China Labor Watch report. In a press release, Samsung has promised to take immediate action to address the problems, which will include demanding all suppliers to correct “irregularities” in labor contracts, abolishing a fines/penalty system, improving safety measures, and recommending that suppliers provide more training for managers on sexual harassment and physical and verbal abuse.
