Snapchat’s recent security breach may or may not have caused an uptick in spambots using the mobile service. Last week I wrote about the ways the company has been skirting the issue, and how that could be a hazardous stance for the startup to take in the long run. Today, however, it has unrolled a new feature trying to make sure new users aren’t themselves spambots. Will this help with spam problem? Potentially. But let’s also hope the company now begins looking deeper into the issue. – weissman
