The American arm of Sony, Sony Electronics, has cut nearly 100 jobs recently in the United States. AllThingsD is reporting that plans to cut the employees have been in place for months, and are part of a broader move to improve operation in the country. The program is dubbed, “Fit for the Future”, and is essentially a streamlining program to cut costs and to refocus product vision. With new CEO Kaz Hirai taking over in March, this year could be the year Sony returns to looking to the future, rather than to the quarterly results.
