Sprint want users off its legacy 2G network – and its Direct Connect push-to-talk offering – and is going to penalize them to make it happen. The company will begin charging $10 additional per month to those who stay on the ancient network rather than upgrading to its CDMA network. The goal is to clear the spectrum occupied by these subscribers by June 2013 and begin construction of a second 4G network. [Source GigaOM]
