Starbucks today officially launched Apple’s wallet-like application Passbook, allowing its customers with iPhones and iPods to store and use their digital cards for mobile payments. Passbook stores mobile coupons, gift cards, electronic tickets, and mobile payments data. Starbucks mobile pay launched in January 2011 and has processed more than 70 million transactions to date. American Express, Target, Ticketmaster, and Lufthansa already support Passbook. [Source: VentureBeat]
