A SWAT team in Evansville, Indiana used multiple flashbangs and a battering ram in raiding a home in response to online threats of violence against local police. All they found was a terrified 18-year old woman watching TV. The issue? An unsecured WiFi network which was used by someone outside the home. The worst part is that the overly agro police force invited TV cameras and local reporters to watch them show off. The police eventually tracked the threats to teenagers in a neighboring house, which they declined to “breach” in similar fashion. Instead they just knocked. [Source ArsTechnica]
