BuzzFeed took a look at Facebook’s social readers and their effect on the websites that they’re supposed to be helping, and the results are disheartening. Links get dropped as soon as the dialog demanding that a user sign up for the reader appears, dropping down pageviews. BuzzFeed also points out that the social nature is creepy and creates an odd psychological relationship in those that view shared stories. In short: they need to either change or disappear.
