Today, a court upheld a ruling in favor of a Mexican tech company that has a brand name called the lfone. The company is now looking for compensation from Apple. The dispute originated in 2009, when Apple was looking to register the name iPhone. The Mexican Industrial Property Institute denied the application, stating the name was already in use. Apple fired back claiming the company hadn’t renewed the name and it was expired. Unfortunately, for Apple the court sided with Mexican tech company, after it found the lfone name was actually being used. Apple appealed but this week it was rejected by the Supreme Court.  [Source: The Wall Street Journal]
