After weeks of rumors, the Golden Spike Company has announced plans to fly manned crews to the moon (and back) for $1.5 billion. This is no space tourism scheme, writes Wired. Instead Golden Spike is looking to court governments who want to send their best scientists to conduct lunar experiments. Golden Spike’s board includes former NASA engineers, and counts one Newton Leroy Gingrich, (who knows a thing or two about moon bases) among its directors and advisors. [Source: Wired]
