Disney created a lot of buzz and positive attention when it released its Academy Award nominated short “Paperman” online last month. Since then, all the other nominees except for one did the same thing. But they are all gone now, after the CEO of Shorts International wrote a letter to the nominees urging them to take the files offline. He said putting them online was hurting the indy theaters that showed them, and damaging to the notion that the shorts are indeed movies — which would never be released online for free.
