Ahead of the launch of its Windows 8 operating system, Microsoft offered some final statistics on the success of its Windows 7 line. The company has sold over 600 million Windows 7 licenses, including 75 million since January. This means that Windows 7 is now running on 39 percent of the world’s internet connected devices (presumable including mobile devices, this was unclear). Given the flop that was Windows Vista, this can be considered nothing but a resounding success. Early reactions to Windows 8 previews are decidedly mixed. [Source VentureBeat]
