The US Defense Department’s advanced research wing, DARPA, has issued a warning that the iPhone is a military threat. By this, DARPA does not mean that your iPhone is waging a guerrilla war against the military, rather that iPhones, Android phones, and tablets are giving hackers an incredibly useful array of spying tools. With all of the various sensors with which smartphones are now equipped, a hacker could theoretically use the phone to spy on military installations. While this may sound a bit far-fetched, DARPA’s warnings are normally taken very seriously.
