Sending files and folders
The Pando Email Plug-in only appears when you need it. If you try to attach a file over the size limit (the default is set at 5 MB but you can change that), it will ask if you want to use Pando.
- Create a new email. Enter the recipient address(es), enter the subject, write the message. You don’t need to mention Pando; the plug-in will insert a notice for your recipient.
- Add your attachment as you normally would. If it is over 5 MB or the size limit you set in Pando (see how to set the size limit), a window will appear asking if you would like to “Pando the attachment.”

You always have the choice, at this point, to say no and proceed as usual. - Rename the Package, if you wish, and click yes to Pando the attachment. If this is your first time sending a Package, Pando will ask for your name.

Your Webmail program will then show that it is attaching the file. A very small Pando Package (a .pando file) will be attached to the email instead of your file. - Send the mail.
To find out what happens on the receiving end, see the “What the recipient sees” section below. To change the Pando Email Plug-in settings, see the “Setting Options” section below.
What the recipient sees
Emails sent with the Pando Email Plug-in have a less-than-subtle message that says: “You’ll need Pando to open this attachment. Get Pando free here.”
If your recipients don’t have Pando installed, they can click the link to get it.
If they do have Pando installed, they can open the .pando attachment the same as any attachment. The Pando application will come forward and the attachment will begin to download.
Note: if a user has changed Pando’s settings so that files are not automatically downloaded, the process is a little different. When they open the .pando attachment, two Pando windows immediately come forward. The top one is the Package Info window which shows the contents and allows the user to download the files now or later and/or to select a different place to put the downloaded files. The window underneath is the Received files list.

Accessing the plug-in settings:
There are two ways to get to the options.
- Open the Pando application. Click options. Choose Plug-ins from the drop-down menu.
- Or, when you try to send an attachment over 5 MB in size: Click the Pando Settings link on the window that prompts you to send it by Pando. This will take you right to the Plug-ins options window.
Change the attachment size that will trigger Pando:
By default, the Pando Email Plug-in will automatically suggest that you use Pando to send any attachments over 5 MB. You can change that limit.
- Go to the Plug-ins settings window (see above).
- If there is more than one plug-in listed, click the one you want to change.
- See the line at the bottom which says: “Package files when outbound email attachments exceed 5 MB.” Change the number.
- Click ok.
Disable the plug-in:
You can stop the plug-in from suggesting Pando Packages automatically.
- Go to the Email Plug-ins settings window.
- If there is more than one email plug-in listed, click the one you want to change.
- At the bottom of the window, there are radio buttons for “On” and “Off.” Click Off.
If you want to uninstall the plug-in altogether, read Uninstalling the plug-in .
Other controls and settings
Once you choose to send an email, the Pando Email Plug-in uses the Pando application.
Consult the help files for the Pando application to learn about such things as viewing Packages that have been sent, clearing the Sent and Received lists and setting non-email options.
