Listen to our PandoWeekly interview with Atavist's Evan Ratliff
On the second-ever episode of PandoWeekly today, I talked to Evan Ratliff, founder of Brooklyn-based digital publishing startup Atavist and an experienced journalist who has written for Wired and The New Yorker, among others.
Over the course of our half-hour conversation, Ratliff discussed Atavist's move into DIY micropublishing, the future of longform journalism, and the company's multimillion-dollar partnership with Barry Diller's IAC. He also spoke of how he felt the day he found out about the New York Times' "Snow Fall," a much-fawned-over multimedia story that did some of what Atavist had already been doing for two years.
On next week's show, we have Gabriel Weinberg, the founder of DuckDuckGo, the search engine that protects your privacy. Given the revelations about the NSA's access to Google's search data, we thought it'd be a timely discussion.
