I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while.
Next week, we continue our San Francisco PandoMonthly series with Instagram founder and recent centi-millionaire Kevin Systrom. To my knowledge, it’s Systrom’s first public appearance since the deal went through — and Facebook’s subsequent IPO went differently than nearly everyone expected.
The last time I interviewed Systrom it was on stage at a Business Insider conference, and he was funny, self-depricating, and honest about the company’s successes and struggles to date. (He was less forthcoming backstage when I told him I’d heard he was mulling a purchase by Facebook. In hindsight I should have taken “What do you want me to say?” as confirmation. Note to self: Just run the damn story next time.)
But in general, Systrom is a guy who doesn’t know another way to be. So I expect a refreshingly candid talk filled with lessons of his truncated ride from struggle to pivot to gargantuan success.
As always, tickets will sell fast, so please buy them now, if you want them. Don’t be like all the people emailing me today and asking for tickets to tonight’s very sold out New York event with Dennis Crowley. All ticket sales are final, and once they are gone, they are gone. No exceptions.
And mark your calendars for November’s events: We have angel investor Chris Sacca in LA on November 1, Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek in New York on November 8, and AngelList’s Naval Ravikant in San Francisco November 15.
