Having run out of its own ideas on how to be evil, Google is now apparently stealing them from Mike Judge's Silicon Valley TV show. How else are we to explain a new lawsuit (embedded below) accusing Google of ripping off proprietary video compression technology from two rival companies?

Just as, in the HBO show, Google-pastiche Hooli is accused of cloning Pied Piper's compression software, so Google stands accused of stealing the compression tech from Max Sound Corp and Vedanti Systems. And just like in the TV show, the allegation comes after Google was previously in negotiations to acquire the technology.

Let's just hope that's as far as the similarities go, otherwise the story will likely have a very unhappy ending for Google -- and a whole load of happy endings for the audience of a certain tech conference.
